There is no FDA-cleared claim for VERIS™ or any other Mānuka honey product on the market as an antibacterial product. However, Mānuka honey is well-researched for its antibacterial properties, and SweetBio®’s MX™ technology has demonstrated a remarkable 99.99% reduction in gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria in vitro, which is published in peer-reviewed journals.

Yes, the Mānuka honey used in VERIS™ is 100% UMF certified and medical grade, which is filtered and sterilized.
Using VERIS™

No, VERIS™ works well even when set in the wound bed and does not overlap the edges of the wound. Most importantly, VERIS™ must contact the wound bed. Press gently upon application to maximize wound bed contact.

VERIS™ was not hydrated, or not hydrated sufficiently when applied. A moist wound environment is critical to the success of VERIS™.
An active infection was present.
VERIS™ was removed from the wound instead of left to dissolve.
VERIS™ was paired with a chemical debrider product, e.g. SANTYL.
